While Blake takes the Liberator to X-Bar, Councilor Joban visits the Supreme Commander at Space Command Headquarters to express concern over her failure to eliminate the rebels.
"Many of our citizens now know of Blake's activities," he complains. "They talk of him as a sort of hero. It impedes progress and, more importantly, order. Order, Servalan. It is all that matters."
After Blake goes down to X-Bar, Avon becomes increasingly worried. "I'm going down," he says finally.
"I don't believe it!" Jenna says. "Why?"
"Blake may need some help."
"But you've been against it all until now."
"I know. But I'm still going down."
"It is a trap, isn't it?" Jenna asks Cally after Avon leaves.
"Avon thinks so."
"Avon always thinks so."
"This time Avon feels responsible," Cally says, seeming to realize that Avon has done something he is beginning to regret.
Once down, Avon sends for Vila. Soon Travis and his criminal psychopaths capture Blake, Avon and Vila. Using Vila's weakness and cowardice, Travis is able to get one of his "crimos" onto the Liberator where Cally and Jenna deal with him. Then Travis locks up the other three without air. In a shoot-out which follows their escape, Travis wounds Avon.
Inga decides to stay with her father to help the other people of the planet, and Blake promises to come back for her later.
